Students will play one memorized piece of period literature for an adjudicator. If the piece is not memorized, the student will play for comments only; no points will be awarded. Adults may use music. Students will be assigned a recital time and room at the Bell Center. Performances will be in a recital format. Entrants have a time limit of five minutes (two movements/shorter selections are also permissible as long as the five minute limit is not exceeded).

Students will receive a written evaluation with a rating, certificate and ribbon. In addition, a student earns points toward a Fall Festival plaque engraved with their name and year in which the award is received. A plaque is awarded each time twelve points are earned ( a minimum of three years).

Highest Honors: 4 points Purple Ribbon

High Honors: 3 points Blue Ribbon

Honors: 2 points Red Ribbon

Honorable Mention: 1 Point White Ribbon

**On special occasions, a student may be awarded a 4+ which earns them a special ribbon for an especially outstanding performance. 4 points are given for this award.

For consultation on appropriate repertoire of composers not listed, contact Jennifer Lacy (grand88key@aol.com). Transcriptions, abridgments, or arrangements are not allowed for piano. Each student must have an original score for judge’s use, measures numbered. If music is not given to the judge, one point will be deducted from the student’s score. Downloaded music must have a receipt attached proving purchase of each download. All photocopies must have a release form for copyright (available here). Please read carefully before signing.
